CMV IgM Blood Test - More Information
The CMV IgM test, also known as a CMV IgM lab test and cytomegalovirus IgM test, measures the CMV IgM blood antibody level.
CMV, or cytomegalovirus, IgM antibodies represent a special class of proteins produced by the immune system. Also known a CMV immunoglobulin M, CMV IgM antibodies typically present earlier than other types of antibodies in identifying a new CMV infection. However, a single CMV IgM antibody measurement in isolation is not as accurate as when this blood test is ordered with the CMV IgG test which, together, make up the commonly ordered CMV test panel.
To get a CMV IgM test near you, order online and get tested at the local Quest Diagnostics lab. After your CMV IgM lab report is ready, they will be downloadable. As can be seen on the sample CMV IgM lab report, the CMV IgM blood level is reported as a numerical value and can be compared against the reference range provided by the lab.
