EP Blood Test - More Information
The EP test, also known as an erythrocyte protoporphyrin test and an EP lab test, measures the EP blood level.
The EP blood test is sometimes used clinically to help evaluate lead poisoning. In the setting of these conditions, EP blood levels are typically elevated and it is often ordered in conjunction with the lead test and the ZPP blood test. EP lab testing can also help in identifying iron deficiency and anemia of chronic disease.
To get an erythrocyte protoporphyrin test at a lab near you, order online and get blood drawn at Quest Diagnostics. Once the EP blood test lab report is ready, it will be available for electronic download. As can be seen on the sample EP lab report above, the EP blood levels are reported as a number and can be compared against the reference range provided by the lab. This particular erythrocyte protoporphyrin test was developed and its analytical performance characteristics have been determined by Quest Diagnostics. It has not been cleared or approved by FDA although this assay has been validated pursuant to the CLIA regulations and is used for clinical purposes.
