IL-2 Blood Test - More Information
The interleukin-2 test, also known as an interleukin-2 blood test, IL-2 test, IL-2 blood test and interleukin-2 lab test, measures the interleukin-2 blood level.
Interleukin-2, or IL-2, is a type of signaling protein made by the immune system. Part of the larger class of cytokines, IL-2 helps the body respond to bacteria and viral invaders. IL-2 primarily exerts its effects on the T cells and IL-2 therapy is used in certain types of cancers. This IL-2 blood test is often ordered with other cytokine tests - the interferon alpha test, interleukin-1 beta test, interleukin-6 test and the TNF blood test.
To get an interleukin-2 test near you, just order online and get your blood drawn at the Quest Diagnostics lab that you selected. Once your IL-2 lab report is ready, it will be available for download. As can be seen on the sample interleukin-2 lab results above, the interleukin-2 blood level is reported as a numerical value and can be compared against the reference ranges provided by the lab. Please note that the interleukin-2 test is performed using a kit that has not been approved or cleared by the FDA. The analytical performance characteristics of the IL-2 test have been determined by Quest Diagnostics. This test should not be used for diagnosis without confirmation by other medically established means.
