What markers are checked in this panel?
This panel measures your blood levels of B-Type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP), Cardio IQ Panel, C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP), Homocysteine and Omega -3 and -6 Fatty Acids.
Why are the markers in this panel important?
B-Type Natriuretic Peptide is a peptide that is a sensitive marker for heart failure or cardiac insufficiency. The hs-CRP is used in assessing the relative cardiovascular risk. Levels > 3.00 mg/L are considered High Risk for cardiovascular disease. The Cardio IQ Panel includes the standard Lipids/Cholesterol panel, Apolipoprotein B, Lipoprotein(a), and measurement of specialized lipid subclasses. The Omega -3 and -6 Fatty Acids test measures levels of omega fatty acids that can help identify cardiovascular risk. Homocysteine is an amino acid that is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease when elevated.
