Chlamydia & Gonorrhea are sexually transmitted diseases that can cause burning or pain with urination. They are tested through a urine sample and are readily treated with antibiotics.

Hepatitis B is tested through the Hepatitis B Surface Antigen test. This test is the earliest indicator of the presence of a Hepatitis B infection and can be detected as early as 7 weeks before the onset of clinical symptoms.

The Hepatitis C Antibody test checks for the presence of Hepatitis C virus antibodies. A positive test suggests prior or current Hepatitis C virus infection.

The Herpes Test checks for the presence of IgG antibodies Herpes types 1 and 2. A positive test confirms exposure to a Herpes Simplex types 1 and/or 2 virus infection. A positive result for this test may occur even if a person infected with Herpes does not have symptoms. Once infected by HSV, it is possible to communicate the virus to other people even if you are not having symptoms.

The HIV test checks for the presence of antibodies to these viruses. The HIV-1 RNA test can detect HIV-1 as early as 6 days after exposure but is best used 2 weeks after a possible exposure.

The RPR, also known as the Rapid Plasma Reagin test, is a screening test for syphilis antibodies. Syphilis can cause infertility. The RPR test is a very accurate screening test for syphilis for people without symptoms.

STD Early Detection Panel - More Information

Building on the STD test panel, this early detection STD panel adds the HIV-1 RNA test to lab markers tested. This STI panel also required blood and urine specimens.

The seven STD markers tested in both STD test panels check for the most common sexually transmitted infections. This particular STD panel provides early detection for HIV-1 which, in particular, makes it helpful for people who fear they have been exposed to HIV recently through sex or a blood exposure. It is reported that HIV-1 can be detected in this panel as early as 6 days after being infected and, with the other STD blood and urine markers tested, this panel offers more comprehensive testing for people who want peace of mind.
