What is tested in this panel?
This panel measures your blood levels of Ferritin, Iron and TIBC, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Vitamins A, B6, B9 (Folate), B12, D & E, and Zinc.
Why is this panel important?
Phosphorus helps the nerves, bone and muscles stay healthy. Vitamin A is important for vision and skin health. Adequate Vitamin D is important for maintaining healthy bone and it may also be involved with reducing cancer risk. Zinc is important for skin and nail health as well as memory.
Magnesium also helps with energy production and immunity. Ferritin, Iron and TIBC help assess the body's iron stores. Vitamin B9, also known as folic acid, is important for cell health and red blood cell production. Vitamin B12 is vital for a number of metabolic processes, including overall health and energy production. A deficiency in Vitamins B12 can cause anemia, fatigue, and poor sleep.
Vitamin B6 is important for nerve function and serotonin production (important for mood). Vitamin B12 also plays a role in proper nerve function. Vitamin E is an antioxidant in the body and plays an important role in nerve function.
