GlycoMark Test - More Information
The GlycoMark test is an advanced blood test for people who have diabetes. Using the GlycoMark test, once can get a measurement of one's blood glucose levels over the past 7-14 days without the need for fasting ahead of time.
The GlycoMark test measures the levels of a molecule in the blood called 1,5-anhydroglucitol, or 1,5-AG. 1,5-AG is a special type of sugar in the blood. While the hemoglobin A1c test and fructosamine test measure the average blood glucose levels over periods of time, they cannot identify how many blood glucose spikes occurred during that time period. The GlycoMark test, on the other hand, can identify high variances (sometimes referred to as glycemic variability) using its measurement of this special type of blood sugar.
