CCP Lab Test - More Information
The CCP test, also known as the CCP blood test, CCP lab test, CCP IgG test and cyclic citrullinated peptide test, measures the CCP blood level.
CCPs, or cyclic citrullinated peptides, are antibodies made by the immune system that attack proteins with citrulline amino acids on them. Also known as anti–citrullinated peptide antibodies, CCP antibodies are frequently present in people who have rheumatoid arthritis as approximately 70% of people with rheumatoid arthritis have a positive CCP IgG antibody test.
To get a CCP blood test near you, just order online and get your blood drawn at the Quest Diagnostics lab that you chose. Once your CCP lab results are ready, they will be available for electronic download. On a CCP blood test lab report, CCP antibody levels are reported as a number and can be compared against a reference range provided by the lab. Based on the CCP level, the amount of CCP antibody can be considered weakly, moderate or strongly positive.
The CCP lab test is often ordered with the rheumatoid factor test and, together, they form the arthritis test panel which helps screen for rheumatoid arthritis. The CCP blood test is also part of the more detailed comprehensive rheumatoid panel and the joint pain test panel.
