Chicken Meat IgE Test - More Information
The chicken allergy test, also known as a chicken meat allergy blood test and a chicken IgE antibody lab test, measures the chicken meat IgE antibody blood level.
Chicken meat has been eaten for centuries and is the most popular type of poultry eaten worldwide. Chickens raised for food, sometimes known as broilers, are typically butchered at sixty days of life. After being butchered, chickens are typically divided into common cuts such as the breast, legs or wings while other parts such as the chicken feet are eaten more commonly in specific parts of the world. Allergy to chicken meat can cause symptoms such as itchy eyes, a runny nose, or stomach cramping.
This chicken IgE test uses the ImmunoCAP® lab methodology. Chicken IgE antibody blood test results are reported in kU/L and can be compared against the IgE antibody reference range provided by the lab to determine the IgE allergy class to chicken meat. The meat allergy test panel is recommended for people who want to test for chicken and other meat allergies.
This chicken allergy blood test is less painful and has less side effects than historical allergy testing methods such as the skin prick test (SPT). In the skin prick, or scratch, test, serum containing chicken meat components are injected into the skin. If you are allergic to chicken meat, you will, unfortunately, have a mild allergic reaction and all of the symptoms that go with it. Instead, this allergy blood test can check for the chicken allergy without causing an allergic reaction, resulting in a much more comfortable lab testing experience through a simple blood draw.
