Sjogren's Panel Blood Test - More Information
The Sjogren's test, also known as a Sjogren's syndrome test, Sjogren's antibody panel test, Sjogren's blood test and Sjogren's panel, measures the Sjogren's antibody blood levels.
Sjogren's syndrome, also known as SjS and SS, is a condition in which the body's immune system is hyperactive and causes dryness in the skin, mouth and eyes, cough and fatigue. Hypothesized to be initially triggered by a foreign microbe like a virus, Sjogren's syndrome is treated through management of the symptoms of dryness (e.g. artificial tears). This Sjogren's antibody panel is composed of the SSA blood test and the SSB blood test. SSA antibodies are found in up to 70% of patients with Sjogren's syndrome and 40% of patients with SLE. SSB antibodies are found in up to 60% of patients with Sjogren's syndrome and 15% of people with SLE.
To get a Sjogren's test panel near you, order online and get your blood drawn at the selected Quest Diagnostics lab. Once your Sjogren's lab results are ready, they will be available for download. As can be seen on the sample Sjogren's test report, the Sjogren's antibody blood levels are reported as numerical values which can be compared against the reference ranges provided by the lab.
This Sjogren's panel is a component of the more comprehensive rheumatoid arthritis panel.
