tTG IgG Blood Test - More Information
The tTG IgG test, also known as a tTG IgG blood test and a tissue transglutaminase IgG antibody lab test, measures the tTG IgG antibody blood levels.
Tissue transglutaminase, or tTG, IgG antibodies are proteins produced by the immune system. Also known a tTG immunoglobulin G, tTG IgG antibodies are often present in people with celiac disease and are involved with destroying the intestinal villi. The tTG IgG antibody test is frequently ordered with the tTG IgA test which, together, make up the commonly ordered tTG blood test panel. The tTG IgG blood test is useful for helping to identify patients with celiac disease and an IgA deficiency which is why it is also part of the celiac disease test panel.
To get a tTG IgG test near you, just order online and get your blood drawn at the Quest Diagnostics lab that you selected. Once your tTG IgG lab results are ready, they will be available for download. As can be seen on the sample tTG IgG lab report, the tTG antibody blood levels will be reported as a number and can be compared against the reference range provided by the lab.
