Menopause Blood Test - More Information
Menopause is the phase of life in which menstrual periods end. Sometimes known as the climacteric, it occurs for most women around age fifty and can be an emotional time as it also signifies the end of fertility. Women in menopause often have symptoms ranging from irregular periods and hot flashes to sweating and mood changes.
Biologically, women typically have a high FSH level and low estradiol levels. Levels above 30 mIU/mL in the setting of an absence of vaginal bleeding for twelve months is highly suggestive of menopause. Estradiol levels are low and typically under 30 pg/mL. This menopause test panel also measures the TSH level to screen for thyroid dysfunction in the setting of menopause symptoms.
To get a menopause test panel near you, simply order online and get your blood drawn at your selected Quest Diagnostics lab. When ready, your menopause lab report will be available for download. As can be seen on the sample menopause lab results above, the individual components of the menopause test panel will be reported as numerical values and can be compared against the reference ranges provided by the lab as part of the menopause lab results.
